Not getting what you pay for

Between 2002-2006 tuition at private colleges went up 13%
while spending on instruction went up <1%.

Costs in that period increased at a rate more than 15 times more than the increased spending on student’s instruction.

Additionally, of the cost accounting category “Educational Spending”, only 40% is spent on actual instruction and that number is decreasing.
