For-Profit Higher Education

Finally some quality commentary on the bad aspects of For-Profit higher education. Check this new story in The New York Times.
As I keep saying, the entire idea of for-profit education leaves something to be desired.

The for-profit nature of the institution gives them an economic incentive to spend as little money on their student’s education as possible.

Instead of spending their money in the best interest of their students, they will be more likely to do so in the best interest of their shareholders. These interests are directly competing and, especially when government money (taxpayer’s money) makes up the bulk of their revenues, these issues can not go on untouched.

While for-profit higher ed has been a “growth industry” for the past decade, these profits have come at the expense of their students.
